The photographs in this gallery were made with pinhole cameras. I used mainly three of my smaller and more easily transported cameras. Please click on an image for more information or a larger image view.

Graffiti and Shadow
Daytona Beach, Florida
Camera: Shooting Star
Note: The shadow was from ornamental ironwork on the beach boardwalk that was removed during later remodeling. The building and graffiti that "hosted" the shadow are also now gone. It is all new and slicker now, but I sometimes miss the interesting shabbiness of things past.

Miami Doors
Miami Beach, Florida
Camera: Shooting Star
Note: At night, this quiet and very empty space was filled with homeless people. Perhaps it was a safe place to sleep.

Factory Wheels
Straight Engineering, Adel, Iowa
Camera: Omega XL-P
Note: My father had a manufacturing plant that used a lot of very interesting and older machinery. The machine in Factory Wheels was from the early part of the last century. In its heyday, the factory was a thriving business with rail connections going into the vast main work room to transport the huge machines he made. Now, the trains are gone and the factory has been unused for many years. A large section of the building had a vaulted brick ceiling and I remember when it was full of people working. A sweet old building. Things change.

Factory Spacers
Straight Engineering, Adel, Iowa
Camera: Omega XL-P
Note: The marks in the dust from the many hands that once reached for these spacers sort of seem like ghosts to me. I am sure the spacers are long gone, as are many of the men who worked in the factory. And the factory, in spite of great efforts by my father, failed and was closed down years ago. I am told the building now has a new use and is bringing a new chapter to the little town of Adel, Iowa.
